Elsa A. Olivetti, MIT Research Staff
Elsa Olivetti, Ph.D., is one of two MIT research staff developing the IPSR cost emulator. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, and was previously a Research Scientist in MIT's Engineering Systems Division (2009-2013). She has published extensively on topics related to materials and sustainability.
Dr. Olivetti ran a multi-sponsor international consortium evaluating environmental life cycle impact of electrical and electronic equipment through quantitative streamlined methodologies. She has assisted the Materials and Society community of The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS), and she developed operational models to inform production level sourcing, batch planning, alloy choice, and alloy design decisions on cost and feedstock use for the metals industry.
Dr. Olivetti received her B.S. degree in Engineering Science from the University of Virginia and her Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from MIT. She also did post-doc work in Engineering Systems at MIT.
